My Journey into Writing
My journey into writing sprung through a two-fold process:
- maintaining this blog for over a decade (since 2005) where I write about politics, religion, and sexuality. My non-fiction writing tends to be dense, academic, and verbose.
- writing character histories for RPG characters, fiction, and narratives mostly in the last six years or so. Specifically, I had a revelation 2011 when working rewriting on a friend’s character history, which had me pump out 10,000 words in 3 days, which is about 3,300 words a day which is a breakneck speed.
From 2011 on, these two experiences culminated with me listening to the Writing Great Sentences course from The Great Courses and then participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in 2013 with a Sci-Fi piece: The Veritas Engagement. Since the I have been reading books on writing and plotting, and have slowly been attempting to put together a fantasy series, however, time is at a premium, so I have not made as much progress as I would like. I have so much to learn. I have even looked at going back to school, but we cannot afford that. =(
My Writing Can Be Found…
In general, most of my writing can be found here on my personal blog under the writing category. I also have a few posts detailing my thoughts on the NaNoWriMo experience.
You can find specific types of my creative writing in the following categories which includes:
You can also find a bunch on Storium where I have participated in writing collaborative stories. I have also posted my work for critique on Scribophile.
